Reading Assignment 3
Uncle Pumblechook shows hospitality to Pip when he allows him to stay at his house the night before he goes to Miss Havisham's house. Uncle Pumblechook must care for Pip, since he let him stay at his house. Pip's first impression of Miss Havisham is very unusual. She is dressed in a white wedding dress and her house is very weird. The clocks in he house are stopped all at the same time and she has a rotten wedding cake in the dining room with bugs all over it. Pip wants everyone to think that his trip was grand, so he lies to his family and said he had fun, even though he didn't. Pip and Joe go to a local bar, where Pip gets starred at by a man. Pip notices that the man is stirring his drink with the file that he gave the convict in the marshes. Pip gets very scarred.
Reading Assignment 2
Pip returns to the marshes to give the convict what he asked for, but instead he finds a different convict. The two convicts fight and later get taken back to prison. Pip's family celebrates Christmas, but Pip is not thrilled at all. He doesn't like when he is around his relatives, because all they do is criticize and lecture him. Pip feels extremely guilty about taking the pie from Mrs. Joe. When she goes to the cabinet to get it, it isn't there and Pip runs to the door, but is stopped by some soldiers. Pip thinks he is in trouble, but all they want is for Joe to fix their handcuffs, since he is a blacksmith. Pip is taken to Miss Havisham's home.
Reading Assignment 1
Pip meets a convict in the churchyard. The convict demands Pip to bring him food and a file, so he can cut his chains of his leg. Pip and his sister Mrs. Joe, don't have a tight relationship. Mrs. Joe treats Pip like dirt and beats him all the time. She feels that it is all of Pip's fault for the way she has to live her life and take care of him and Joe. Pip and Joe have a very close relationship. Joe wants the best for Pip and loves him deeply.

The Developing World
In the late 18th to 19th century, the world changed drastically. During the time known as the Inustrial Revolution when the creation of factories, textiles, and steam power were discovered, but at the same time, child labor and starvation occured. Leading to the creation of the child labor laws. Children younger than ten were working, but now the starting age for a paying job is sixteen. Immigrants came to this country to work and start a new life during this era. The Industrial Revolution also made a stronger country, because factories produced more jobs and created more money. Social interaction with other countries and make money while doing it. Though the Industrial Revolution had its downfalls, it changed the world for the better.

Great Expectations
Charles Dickens was born on Feb. 7, 1812 in Portsmouth England. He later died on June 9th, 1870 at the age of 58. He was a famous novelist, who is known throughtout the world. He wrote many different inspiring pieces of writing. Some of his famous works include Oliver Twist, Tale of Two Cities, and A Christman Carol.
